Trump Says Ceasefire Over, But US-Iran Talks to Continue

Washington: US President Donald Trump has said the United States will continue diplomatic talks with Iran despite the end of the ceasefire between the two countries.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Iran had requested that negotiations continue and that the US had agreed. However, he stressed that the ceasefire had officially come to an end.

The announcement comes amid renewed hostilities following the truce declared last month. According to reports, the US has carried out strikes on more than 170 Iranian military targets, including air defence systems, drone facilities and missile storage sites.

Iran, in retaliation, is reported to have targeted US military bases in Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, further escalating tensions across the Gulf region.

The latest developments have heightened concerns over security in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy shipping routes, amid fears of a broader regional conflict.
