BJP Slams Karnataka Government After Kalaburagi Jailbreak; Vijayendra Targets Priyank Kharge

Kalaburagi (Karnataka): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a sharp attack on the Karnataka government following the escape of three convicted prisoners from the Kalaburagi Central Jail, alleging that the incident exposes serious lapses in the state’s law and order machinery.

Reacting to the jailbreak, Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra took a swipe at Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge, saying, “Home Minister Priyank Kharge is currently busy with the Iran-US war. He will finish that and then come here,” in an apparent jibe over the government’s handling of the incident.

The BJP alleged that repeated security breaches in Kalaburagi, the home district of senior Congress leaders, have raised serious concerns over the state’s prison and policing systems.

The criticism comes days after an accused in a POCSO case allegedly escaped from Afzalpur Police Station on July 3 after freeing himself from handcuffs. The latest escape of three convicted prisoners from the central jail has further intensified the debate over security arrangements and law enforcement in the district.

The Karnataka Police have launched a search operation to trace the escaped prisoners, while an investigation is underway to determine how they managed to flee the high-security prison.
