New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated Harjinder Kaur for winning the silver medal in the Women’s 69kg weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister highlighted that Harjinder’s medal-winning effort was also a personal best, describing it as a notable achievement. He said it was encouraging to see Indian weightlifters delivering strong performances at the Games.
“Congratulations to Harjinder Kaur for winning a Silver in the Women’s 69 kg event at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Also noteworthy is the fact that her performance was a personal best. It is gladdening to see our weightlifters perform so well in the Games,” the Prime Minister said.

He also conveyed his best wishes to the weightlifter for her future competitions and expressed confidence that she would continue to bring laurels to the country.
