Mangaluru: In a relief to long-distance railway passengers, Indian Railways has extended the services of two special trains connecting Ahmedabad-Mangaluru Junction and Kanpur Central-Madurai till the end of November 2026.
According to Southern Railway, both services will operate 13 additional trips each during the extended period. There will be no change in the existing timings or stoppages of the trains.
Ahmedabad-Mangaluru special train to run till November 28
The extension will benefit passengers travelling between Gujarat and coastal Karnataka.
Train No. 09424 Ahmedabad–Mangaluru Junction Special will operate every Friday from September 4 to November 27, making 13 trips.
Its return service, Train No. 09423 Mangaluru Junction–Ahmedabad Special, will run every Saturday from September 5 to November 28, also completing 13 trips.

Kanpur-Madurai service gets 13 more trips
The Kanpur Central-Madurai Special has also been extended to cater to passengers travelling between Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Train No. 01925 Kanpur Central–Madurai Special will run every Wednesday from September 2 to November 25.
The return service, Train No. 01926 Madurai–Kanpur Central Special, will operate every Saturday from September 5 to November 28.
Both services will make 13 trips during the extended period.
Advance reservation for the Kanpur-Madurai Special trains has already commenced. Western Railway has said advance booking for the extended services of the Ahmedabad-Mangaluru Special trains will begin shortly.
The extension is expected to provide additional travel options during the coming months, particularly for passengers undertaking long-distance journeys between western, southern and northern parts of the country.
