Army Chief Lauds Athletes for Winning 20 Medals at Asian Games

New Delhi: Chief of Army Staff General Dheeraj Seth has lauded Indian Army athletes for winning 20 medals at the Asian Games, expressing confidence that they would continue their strong performances at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The Army felicitated its medal-winning athletes at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi. The contingent secured six gold, eight silver and six bronze medals at the continental sporting event.

Commending the athletes for their achievements, General Seth highlighted their contribution to enhancing India’s standing in international sports. He also emphasised the Army’s continued efforts to identify and nurture sporting talent across the country.

Through its Mission Olympic Wing, the Indian Army provides promising athletes with training, guidance and other necessary support. Sports centres have been established in various locations to develop young talent and prepare sportspersons for major international competitions.

The Army is also nurturing emerging athletes through its Boys’ Sports Companies and Girls’ Sports Companies, which serve as platforms for identifying and training promising talent.

General Seth said the initiatives would help build a steady pipeline of athletes capable of representing India at major sporting events.

The Army’s focus on sports development is aimed at strengthening its athletes’ competitive capabilities and preparing them for future international challenges, including the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
