New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended his heartfelt greetings to devotees undertaking the annual Amarnath Yatra, wishing them a safe, peaceful and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage. He also released an open letter urging pilgrims to adopt five resolutions aimed at promoting cleanliness, safety, environmental protection, local livelihoods and nation-building.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister described the Amarnath Yatra as an eternal symbol of India’s spiritual heritage and cultural unity. He said the pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Baba Barfani represents the enduring values of Sanatan tradition and brings together devotees from diverse regions, languages and cultures.
In his letter, PM Modi said the opportunity to undertake the Amarnath Yatra is a profound privilege and expressed confidence that this year’s pilgrimage would once again showcase India’s spirit of “unity in diversity”. He praised the hospitality of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and highlighted the selfless service rendered by volunteers who organise community kitchens along the pilgrimage route.

The Prime Minister also lauded the efforts of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, the Jammu and Kashmir administration, the Indian Army, CRPF, J&K Police, ITBP, BSF, NDRF, doctors, sanitation workers and other personnel for ensuring the safe and smooth conduct of the Yatra.
PM Modi appealed to devotees to observe five key resolutions during the pilgrimage:
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the Yatra.
- Follow all safety, traffic and administrative guidelines.
- Support local businesses by spending at least 10% of the pilgrimage budget on local products under the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative.
- Gift a sapling on Raksha Bandhan as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
- Perform their duties with a ‘Nation First’ spirit and contribute towards building a Viksit Bharat.
Expressing confidence in the success of this year’s pilgrimage, the Prime Minister said the Amarnath Yatra would continue to strengthen India’s cultural unity and tradition of selfless service. He prayed for Baba Barfani’s blessings to bring devotees safety, spiritual strength and renewed energy.
