Spain Storm Into FIFA World Cup Final With 2-0 Win Over France

Dallas: Spain booked their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final with a commanding 2-0 victory over France in the first semi-final, reaching the title clash for the first time in 16 years.

The win marked Spain’s third successive triumph over France, following victories in Euro 2024 and the UEFA Nations League 2025.

At the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Spain dominated possession with their trademark attacking style, controlling more than 62% of the ball and keeping France on the back foot for most of the match.

Spain took the lead in the 22nd minute when Mikel Oyarzabal converted a penalty after Lamine Yamal was brought down inside the box. The advantage was doubled in the 58th minute as Pedro Porro finished off a well-worked move set up by Dani Olmo.

France struggled to create clear chances against Spain’s disciplined defence. Captain Kylian Mbappe was kept quiet throughout the contest, while defender William Saliba’s injury in the 31st minute further dented France’s hopes of a comeback.

With the victory, Spain advanced to their first World Cup final since 2010, when they lifted the trophy in South Africa.

Spain will now face the winner of the second semi-final between Argentina and England in the final at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, on July 19, while France will compete in the third-place playoff.
