Bengaluru: The Election Commission has urged voters in Karnataka to submit their Special Intensive Revision (SIR) forms by August 8, as the ongoing revision of the electoral rolls enters its final phase.
According to the Commission, 3.67 crore of the 5.53 crore SIR forms distributed across the state have been digitised so far, accounting for 66.35% of the total. The exercise has also completed self-mapping of 1.56 crore voters and family lineage mapping of 1.93 crore voters. However, 17.19 lakh forms have been submitted without mapping details.
Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbukumar said voters should submit their forms to their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs) by August 8 even if the mapping details are incomplete. He added that any adult member of a family could submit the forms on behalf of the household.
The Election Commission said the names of all applicants who submit their forms within the deadline would be included in the draft electoral roll scheduled to be published on August 17.
The Commission has also identified 44.84 lakh voters under the ASDDO category, covering absentee, shifted, deceased, duplicate and other cases requiring verification. Of these, 23.86 lakh cases fall within the jurisdiction of the Greater Bengaluru Authority, where the digitisation process has reached only 30%, officials said.
