Nagoya: Indian shooters Neeru Dhanda and Kynan Chenai won the gold medal in the trap mixed team event at the Asian Games 2026 on Wednesday, setting a new Asian record in the final.
The Indian duo, who qualified for the final in fourth place with a combined score of 136, produced a score of 34 in the medal round to finish on top.
Qatar’s Mohammed Al-Rumaihi and Ray Bassil took silver with 32 points, while China’s Qi Ying and Sun Yunong won bronze with 23.
India’s victory also marked the country’s first-ever Asian Games gold medal in the trap mixed team event. The Indian pair surpassed the previous Asian record of 30, set by Qatar earlier this year.

Neeru entered the mixed team event after winning gold in the women’s individual trap and was competing for her third medal at the Games. Kynan was India’s stronger performer in qualification, contributing 73 points.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Neeru Dhanda and Kynan Chenai on their gold-medal performance.
Modi highlighted their Asian-record score in the final and described the victory as a memorable achievement for Indian shooting.
The Prime Minister also said the historic gold reflected the pair’s strong performance and wished both shooters continued success.
