Bengaluru ORR Redevelopment Plan to Be Finalised After Public Consultation

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government will finalise the comprehensive redevelopment plan for Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road (ORR) only after consulting residents and other stakeholders, Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said on Thursday.

The minister inspected the ORR stretch from Lowry Junction to Silk Board Junction and Ibluru Junction to review the proposed redevelopment under the B-SMILE initiative.

The project aims to transform the 17.1-km corridor from Silk Board Junction to Baiyappanahalli Metro Station into a modern urban road with integrated infrastructure, at an estimated cost of ₹400–450 crore.

During the inspection, the minister directed officials to immediately clear footpath encroachments, repair damaged service roads and potholes, and ensure uniform designs for bus bays, footpaths, drains, medians and service roads.

He also instructed authorities to address unsafe overhead power cables, improve traffic management at Doddanekkundi, Kodibeesanahalli, Devarabeesanahalli and Ibluru junctions, expedite the proposed flyover at Ibluru Junction, shift utilities, widen roads, develop stormwater drains and extend the skywalk near Bellandur Ecospace.

  • Repair damaged service roads and potholes immediately.
  • Ensure uniform design for bus bays, footpaths, drains, medians, and service roads.
