C-DOT unveils 14 indigenous quantum products to secure India’s communication networks

New Delhi: The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the telecom R&D arm of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), has unveiled 14 indigenous quantum security products aimed at protecting India’s communication networks against emerging cyber threats in the quantum computing era.

The products were launched during C-DOT’s 43rd Foundation Day celebrations in New Delhi. The new portfolio covers Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) technologies for telecom, enterprise, optical, wireless, strategic and defence applications.

QKD, quantum-safe encryption solutions unveiled

Among the products are Q-AKSHAY CD, a compact fibre-based QKD system using Coherent One Way and Differential Phase Shift protocols, and Q-AKSHAY MD, a Measurement Device Independent QKD system designed to provide enhanced protection against vulnerabilities associated with measurement devices.

C-DOT has also unveiled key quantum communication components such as C-SPD, a single-photon detector, and C-RD, a wideband RF driver for intensity and phase modulators.

The portfolio includes several quantum-safe encryptors with varying capacities. Q-SETU supports Layer 3 communications at up to 80 Mbps, while commercial-grade Q-MAHASETU supports Layer 2/3 networks at speeds of up to 40 Gbps.

For strategic and defence applications, Q-VIKRAM and Q-PARAKRAM offer up to 1 Gbps quantum-safe encryption. Meanwhile, Q-AMOGH provides high-speed optical encryption of up to 200 Gbps at Layer 1.

Quantum protection extended to phones, wireless and enterprise networks

The series also features Q-DARSHAN, a quantum-safe video IP phone, and Q-VACHAN, an in-line node that can upgrade existing IP phones with quantum security.

Other solutions include Q-RAQSHAK for enterprise networks, Q-VAAYU for secure wireless point-to-point communication and Q-VAJRA1000, which can integrate quantum-safe security into existing infrastructure supporting technologies such as GPON and wireless radios.

The products use NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography algorithms to protect communications against threats posed by future quantum computers.

C-DOT said the portfolio represents its efforts to transform indigenous research and innovation into deployable, future-ready security solutions for India’s communication infrastructure.

A Quantum Product Series booklet was also launched, showcasing C-DOT’s work in QKD and PQC and its efforts to build secure, resilient and quantum-ready communication technologies.
