Surat: The Gujarat Food and Drug Control Authority has seized suspected adulterated ghee and edible oils worth more than ₹35 lakh during raids in Surat and Deesa following directions from Health Minister Praful Panchsheriya.
Officials raided Keval Food Products in the industrial area of Stad Pardi in Kamrej taluk, Surat, where the unit was allegedly manufacturing and packaging ghee without a valid licence.
Authorities seized 5,157 litres of ghee branded as Shri Anmol Ratan Hasu Tuppa, valued at ₹26.12 lakh. They also confiscated 1,485 kg of palm oil and 285 kg of soybean oil worth ₹3.63 lakh.
In a separate operation in Deesa, officials seized 987 litres of suspected adulterated ghee valued at ₹6.22 lakh from various establishments.
Samples of all seized products have been sent for laboratory testing. Authorities have registered cases under the Food Safety and Standards Act, with further action to follow based on the test results.
Minister Panchsheriya warned that strict action would be taken against businesses involved in food adulteration and those putting public health at risk.
