Gelatin used for alleged illegal blasting at construction site; Bengaluru cops launch probe

Bengaluru: More than 800 kg of gelatin explosives have been seized by Bellandur police following allegations of illegal blasting at a construction site in Bhoganahalli, near Bellandur.

A private company is carrying out construction work in the area, where large rocks were reportedly encountered. Local residents have alleged that gelatin was being used to blast the rocks without following mandatory safety procedures.

Residents have also raised concerns over alleged blasting activity near a school. They claimed that explosions were being carried out late at night, raising safety concerns, particularly for children in the vicinity.

Following the allegations, Bellandur police conducted an operation at the site and seized the explosives. An FIR has been registered and an investigation is underway.

Police are examining how the gelatin was stored at the construction site, whether the company had the required licences and permissions to possess and use the explosives, and whether any blasting activity was actually carried out.

Officials are also investigating the source of the seized gelatin and whether safety regulations were violated. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
