‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign: Delhi Metro rolls out tricolour-themed train

New Delhi: Delhi Metro has joined the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign ahead of India’s 80th Independence Day celebrations, with a specially decorated tricolour-themed train launched on the Yellow Line on Sunday.

The special train has been introduced as part of the week-long Independence Day celebrations, according to officials from the Union Culture Ministry. This year’s campaign also marks the 150th anniversary of the patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram’. The ministry has urged citizens to proudly display the national flag and participate in digital initiatives linked to the campaign.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has highlighted its strong record on punctuality and operational reliability. Under its strict monitoring system, a train delayed by more than 59 seconds is officially counted as late.

DMRC said its punctuality improved from 98.27% in 2003 to 99.64% in 2005 and reached 99.95% in 2026. According to the international COMET benchmark, Delhi Metro has consistently featured among the world’s top five metro systems in terms of reliability.

Delhi Metro also operates India’s largest driverless metro network, with around 29% of its network currently running without drivers. The 71.55-km Pink Line, comprising 45 stations, is the world’s longest driverless metro line.
