Bengaluru: The India Meteorological Department has forecast an increase in monsoon activity across Karnataka, with heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds expected in several parts of the state.
A yellow alert has been issued for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada, where heavy rain is likely at isolated places. Winds may reach 30–40 kmph, prompting authorities to advise coastal residents and fishermen to exercise caution.
Heavy rain is also expected in parts of Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru, with winds of 30–40 kmph. A yellow alert has been issued for these districts as well.

Light to moderate rain accompanied by strong winds is likely in Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Tumakuru, Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Ballari, Chamarajanagar, Chitradurga, Davangere, Hassan, Kodagu and Vijayanagara.
In North Karnataka, moderate rain with winds of 30–40 kmph is likely in Bidar, Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, Raichur, Dharwad, Bagalkot, Belagavi, Haveri, Koppal and Yadgir.
Gadag may experience stronger winds of 40–50 kmph along with rain.
The weather department has advised people to remain cautious, particularly in areas likely to experience strong winds and thunderstorms.
