Bengaluru: Heavy rainfall continued across coastal, Malnad and parts of North Karnataka on Monday, prompting district administrations to declare a holiday for schools and colleges in several districts as a precautionary measure.
Continuous rain accompanied by strong winds over the past four to five days has disrupted normal life in many areas. Fallen trees have blocked roads, rivers are flowing above danger levels, and authorities have warned of possible flooding in low-lying regions.

The following districts and taluks have declared educational institutions closed:
- Shivamogga: Holiday for all schools and colleges in Thirthahalli, Hosanagar and Sagar taluks.
- Chikkamagaluru: Holiday for primary and high schools in Mudigere, Koppa and N.R. Pura taluks.
- Uttara Kannada: Holiday for Anganwadis, primary and high schools in Sirsi, Siddapur, Joida, Dandeli and Yellapur taluks.
- Hassan: Holiday for Anganwadis, schools and colleges in Sakleshpur taluk.
- Belagavi: District Collector Mohammad Roshan has declared a holiday for all schools and PU colleges in Belagavi city and Khanapur
- taluk due to the threat of flooding caused by heavy rainfall in the Maharashtra Ghat region.
Authorities have advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel, remain alert in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas, and strictly follow instructions issued by the district administration and disaster management officials.
