New Delhi: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday said India and the United States are emerging as natural partners with strong complementarity and mutual trust across sectors such as technology, defence, digital infrastructure, quantum computing and medical devices.
Speaking at the Annual Leadership Summit of the American Chamber of Commerce in New Delhi, Goyal said commitments from American companies in the last six months are estimated at over 60 billion dollars, including major investments in data centres by Amazon and Google.
He said India has consistently demonstrated respect for intellectual property rights while delivering high-quality output on time, making the country a trusted global partner amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainties.
Highlighting the strong economic partnership between India and the US, Goyal said both economies complement each other with minimal competition, helping build resilient and trusted global supply chains.
The minister said the government is focusing on an area-based industrial development model through the Bhavya scheme, which aims to establish 100 industrial parks with integrated infrastructure, housing and social amenities.
Goyal said India will continue to remain the world’s fastest-growing economy for at least the next 25 years, supported by infrastructure growth, lower logistics costs and expanding trade partnerships.
He also stressed the importance of MSMEs in strengthening global supply chains. According to him, the proposed Export Promotion Mission will help MSMEs obtain global certifications and improve access to international markets.
The minister noted that India is rapidly moving beyond the “assemble in India” model towards becoming a centre for design, innovation and intellectual property creation.
Highlighting India’s digital and manufacturing progress, Goyal said the country now hosts more than 2,100 global capability centres employing around 2.35 million people and generating nearly 98 billion dollars in revenue.
He added that initiatives such as Startup India, Make in India, Digital India, PM Gati Shakti and Semicon Mission are helping India emerge as a trusted destination for investment, innovation and advanced manufacturing.
