Samalkha (Haryana): The Rashtra Sevika Samiti concluded its three-day All India Executive and Representative Council meeting in Samalkha, Haryana, on Sunday, adopting resolutions that called for the implementation of a uniform national population policy and a Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
The first half-yearly baithak, held from July 24 to 26, was attended by 488 representatives from 40 states, including the organisation’s chief functionary Shantakumari and All India Chief Executive Sita Gayatri.
During the meeting, the organisation reviewed its activities since February 2026 and said it had expanded its reach over the past six months. According to the Samiti, it currently operates 4,886 branches, conducts 1,173 regular meetings, and runs 1,332 service projects across 852 districts.
The delegates also discussed preparations for the organisation’s 90th anniversary, focusing on organisational expansion, the changing social landscape, challenges faced by women and youth, and measures to address them.
On the concluding day, the representative council adopted a resolution expressing concern over what it described as the causes and consequences of population imbalance. The resolution urged the Union and state governments to implement a uniform national population policy and enact a Uniform Civil Code applicable to all communities.
Addressing the valedictory session, Shantakumari said the historic land of Kurukshetra symbolised determination and service to society. She called on members to focus on qualitative organisational expansion and personality development of volunteers.
As the organisation completes 90 years and moves towards its centenary, Shantakumari said it was important to strengthen its efforts to achieve its long-term social objectives.
