Bengaluru: Seven workers were killed and five others sustained serious injuries after a massive rock collapsed at a stone quarry in Bengaluru South taluk on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred around 5 am at Kaveri Crusher near Madapatna village, where a huge rock reportedly fell from a height of nearly 40 feet onto workers engaged in quarrying operations.
According to preliminary information, the accident took place while stones were being removed using a Hitachi excavator. Around 10 to 15 migrant workers from Bihar, along with two to three local labourers, were reportedly present at the quarry when the rock collapsed.

The injured workers were rushed to a hospital in Ramanagara for treatment. Officials said some of them remain in critical condition.
Police, rescue teams and district officials reached the spot soon after the incident and launched rescue and relief operations. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse and ascertain whether safety norms were followed at the quarry.
