‘Shram Samvad’ Programme on Labour Codes Held in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain

Ujjain: The Union Ministry of Labour and Employment, in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh Labour Department and Grasim Industries Limited, organised a capacity-building and awareness programme on labour codes, welfare and social security at Nagda in Ujjain district on November 4.

The programme, titled ‘Shram Samvad’, aimed to familiarise employers, human resource personnel, legal experts and finance professionals with the four Labour Codes and the rules governing their implementation. It also focused on strengthening coordination between the Centre and state governments and improving awareness of labour welfare and social protection measures.

S R Datta, director of the Union labour ministry, presided over the programme, while retired Squadron Leader S K Singh, vice-president of Grasim Industries, Nagda, co-chaired the event. More than 150 participants, including industry representatives and officials from the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and other labour agencies, attended.

Technical sessions covered employers’ statutory obligations and compliance requirements under the four Labour Codes. Officials also explained the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan scheme.

The ministry distributed a ‘Handbook of Compliance for Employers’ and a compilation of frequently asked questions to help organisations understand and implement the new provisions.

An interactive question-and-answer session allowed participants to seek clarification on labour regulations, compliance procedures and social security benefits. The organisers said the initiative was aimed at improving awareness and facilitating effective implementation of labour reforms through greater coordination among government agencies and industry stakeholders.
