Centre orders probe into repeated technical glitches in Namma Metro; BMRCL asked to submit report

Bengaluru: Concerned over recurring technical glitches in Bengaluru’s Namma Metro operations, the Centre has directed the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to carry out a comprehensive inquiry and submit a detailed report on the disruptions.

In recent months, frequent technical issues have led to repeated interruptions in metro services, drawing criticism from commuters and raising concerns over reliability. The matter was also raised at the national level by Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, who urged intervention.

Following his representation, the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety has instructed BMRCL to investigate service disruptions reported over the past three years and provide a detailed report on corrective measures taken so far.

Taking to social media platform ‘X’, Surya said the move was initiated based on his request to the authorities. He emphasised that passenger safety and convenience must remain the top priority for BMRCL.

He further said that the metro operator must ensure safe, reliable and uninterrupted services as part of its core responsibility, adding that operational safety should not be treated as a secondary concern.
