Kolkata: The West Bengal government has directed all state departments, district administrations, municipal bodies and panchayats to observe the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign from August 9 to 17, in line with the Union Ministry of Culture’s nationwide initiative to promote patriotism and national unity.
According to a government statement, all districts have been instructed to ensure participation from educational institutions, cultural organisations, youth groups, NGOs, business bodies and the general public.
Each district and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation will receive 1.5 lakh national flags. The state has also allocated funds for the campaign, including ₹1 lakh for each district and municipal corporation, ₹50,000 for each subdivision, and ₹20,000 each for blocks and municipalities.
Authorities have been asked to organise tricolour rallies, morning processions, bicycle and e-bike rallies, along with painting competitions, quizzes, seminars and exhibitions highlighting the significance of the national flag. Government offices, heritage buildings and public spaces will be decorated with tricolour lights and rangolis.
