Iran warns Israel against attacks on Lebanon, threatens stronger response

Tehran: Iran has issued a fresh warning to Israel, saying any continued military strikes on southern Lebanon and Beirut’s Dahieh district would invite a tougher and more damaging response.

Speaking on Sunday, Ali Abdullahi, commander-in-chief of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, urged Israel to immediately halt its operations in Lebanon, warning that further attacks could trigger large-scale retaliation against Israel and its supporters.

Abdullahi accused Israel of escalating military action in Lebanon with the backing of the United States and alleged that international organizations had failed to respond adequately. He also claimed that war crimes, including the use of prohibited weapons, were being committed during the conflict.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had launched ballistic missiles targeting the Ramat David Airbase in northern Israel, alleging that the facility was being used to support military operations against Lebanon.

Iran further accused Israel and the United States of violating the terms of a ceasefire that reportedly came into effect on April 8, warning that continued attacks on Lebanon could provoke a broader regional response.

Adding to the warning, Mohsen Rezaei said in a social media post that any new aggression against Lebanon would be met with a harsher response.

Amid rising tensions, Iranian authorities temporarily closed portions of the country’s western airspace as a precautionary measure. The latest developments have heightened concerns of a wider escalation in West Asia, drawing close attention from the international community.
