Nine Killed in Pennsylvania Shooting; Minnesota Teen Accused of Mall Attack Plot

Erie: Nine people, including two children, were killed in a shooting in Erie, Pennsylvania. Police found two women dead on Perry Street and other victims inside a house. The suspect was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities are yet to disclose the victims’ identities or the motive.

In a separate case, 18-year-old Sheikhdoun Abdullahi Mohamud has been charged over an alleged plot to carry out a mass shooting at Minnesota’s Mall of America.

An FBI affidavit alleges that Mohamud planned to kill 30 to 60 people with support from the Islamic State. Investigators claim he exchanged hundreds of messages with a confidential FBI source and paid $600 to an undercover agent for an AK-47 rifle and ammunition.

The rifle had reportedly been rendered inoperable, but the ammunition remained live. Mohamud was arrested after allegedly collecting the items. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 19, while investigations into the alleged plot and terrorist links continue.
